Team INEOS will make its official racing debut on the brand new Pinarello Dogma F12.
Pinarello has been the main technical partner of the team since its foundation in 2009. The partnership has seen the development of 12 different road bikes and three time trial bikes that have been successfully used by the team to win races across the world.
While creating the Dogma F12, Pinarello decided to develop two projects simultaneously; a version with disc brakes, the Dogma F12 Disk, and one with traditional brakes, the Dogma F12.
One of the main targets of the new Dogma F12 was to maintain the fundamental all round characteristic of a stiff and light bike with excellent aerodynamic balance.
The Dogma F12 frame and fork feature many refinements, developed in order to provide an aerodynamic advantage. The results are a drag reduction of 7.3% and a saving of 8 watts at 40km/h compared to the Dogma F10.
To enhance the F12’s responsiveness and the power transmission, the chainstay cross sections have been completely redesigned to increase stiffness without adding weight. This new cross section in combination with the Torayca 1100 1K, the best carbon available, ensures an improvement in lateral stiffness by 10% .
The biggest improvement on the Dogma F12 is the complete cable routing integration. The PinaLab developed a specific handlebar and headset design that enables the correct cable functionality and allows integration of all possible brake and gear combinations (disc or rim; mechanical or electronic).
The new integrated handlebar, the Most Talon Ultra, is 10.3% lighter, 8.6% stiffer and is 5% more efficient through drag compared to the Most Talon Aero.
Pinarello owner Fausto Pinarello said: “We are very satisfied with our work and satisfied with the data and our road tests. The Dogma F12 has achieved all of the goals we set forth when we started the project to improve the previous Dogma F10. However, the last word always comes from the athletes, that’s why there is always a moment of suspense while anxiously waiting for their final comment.
“This time I wanted to ride with them, with Chris and with Geraint on the roads where they train every day. Our answer was received with their smiles of approval and with a simple sentence: End of discussion... again.”
Ahead of racing on the bike at the Tour de Yorkshire, Chris Froome said: “The new F12 looks special and feels it too. As riders we have complete faith in Pinarello. We know we will be able to compete for the biggest races in the world on the F12, as we have on all of their bikes since the team’s inception. I can’t wait to race on it for the first time at the Tour de Yorkshire, and it seems fitting that we will be on a brand new bike as we start racing as Team INEOS.”
Team INEOS Head of Technical Operations & Commercial, Carsten Jeppesen, said: “The Dogma F12 is the culmination of 10 years’ worth of continuous, cutting-edge development with Pinarello. It’s the latest in a long line of Pinarello bikes that have powered the team to every major success, including all eight Grand Tour victories. It’s a privilege for us to be riding on the latest model as we enter a new and exciting era as Team INEOS.”
