Tour of California – Stage four: Raceway Laguna Seca – Morro Bay, 212.5km

Gianni Moscon retained second overall at the Tour of California despite a crash-filled finale to stage four.
The Italian was caught up in a large pile-up on the run into Morro Bay. After a change of bike Moscon was quickly back under way but was unable to regain contact with a surging peloton.
With overnight leader Tejay van Garderen (EF Education First) also going down in an earlier crash, and then subsequently held up on the run-in, race officials decided to retain the general classification results, meaning Moscon remains just six seconds off the American’s lead. Also involved in the crash, David de la Cruz was able to hold firm in eighth place overall.
Kristoffer Halvorsen was the first Team INEOS rider to cross the line, coming home eighth on the uphill drag, won by Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick-Step).
