Kristoffer Halvorsen continued his consistent start to BinckBank Tour after sprinting to fourth place on day two.
Despite losing chief lead-out man Chris Lawless to a crash on the day, the Norwegian fixed himself to the wheel of Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) in the closing metres and timed his kick well to record a top-five finish.
Bennett doubled up to take the win for the second day running in Ardooie, with Halvorsen now placed just outside the top 10 overall.
Lawless went down earlier in the test and was forced to abandon the race. The Brit was sent to checks post-stage and will hope to be back on the bike soon.
Tuesday also saw the start of the Vuelta a Burgos stage race. Team INEOS drove hard into the final climb, with Vasil Kiryienka, Kenny Elissonde and Ian Stannard setting the pace.
The stage was set up for Jhonatan Narvaez, yet the Ecuadorian was sadly brought down in a crash following a touch of wheels in the final metres of the Alto del Castillo.
