Giro d'Italia stage 5: Frascati - Terracina, 140km

Pavel Sivakov and Tao Geoghegan Hart maintained their places in the overall standings after a neutralised finish on stage five of the Giro d’Italia which was won by Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe).

The race organisers took the decision to record the General Classification times on the first passage of the finishing circuit in Terracina, ensuring a much calmer, safer finale to the 140km stage which was blighted by torrential downpours.

The decision meant that the final lap of nine kilometres was purely for the sprinters to contest the stage win, with Ackermann coming out on top as the fast men battled through the ever-growing puddles on the finishing straight.  .
