Coppa Sabatini - Gran Premio Città di Peccioli, 195.9km

Filippo Ganna secured a strong fifth place finish at Coppa Sabatini after a last lap attack paid off in Peccioli.

The Italian crossed the line solo after jumping clear from a reduced peloton, coming home one minute and 59 seconds behind breakaway race winner Alexey Lutsenko (Astana).

Team INEOS were active during the race, with Egan Bernal following up a second place on Wednesday by heading up the road in the 16-man break.

Lutsenko was the only remaining rider from the group and pushed on into the closing stages. Jhonatan Narvaez monitored attacks from behind, with Diego Rosa, Leonardo Basso and Ganna present in the lead group as the laps clicked down.
Final result:

1. Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) 4:22:57
2. Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Merida) +1:03"
3. Simone Velasco (Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM) +1:04"
4. Kristian Sbaragli (Israel Cycling Academy) s.t.
5. Filippo Ganna (Team INEOS) +1:59"
